Do you freeze your grain before long-term storage?

Some people believe that freezing their grains prior to bagging in mylar/buckets or jars, etc., will kill bug eggs and help to prevent spoilage of their foods. Others say that it isn't necessary if you use oxygen absorbers because the eggs won't hatch without oxygen.

What is your practice and why?

Here is a recent thread that discusses freezing rice. http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=268089

No. I take alot of my packing instructions from the LDS. They state that the oxy absorbers are enough to control pests.

Yes. While some may argue that O2 absorbers are enough to kill the bugs, I am a firm believer in redundancy when it comes to my food storage.

You know, "Two is one, one is none."

I'm just starting my food storage program, but here's my plan for rice:

1. Use one-gallon bags with the best oxygen barrier I can find. That way, if one bag is damaged somehow, the amount of food lost is smaller than if larger bags were used. Smaller packages are also easier to use for barter, if needed.
2. Add 3 x 100cc oxygen absorbers and a bay leaf to every bag. Bay is an effective bug repellent.
3. Vacuum seal the bags to remove remaining air.

I'm not planning to freeze them, because I'm concerned about the potential effect on the taste, texture and nutritional value of the rice -- not to mention the extra time and energy required.
